…the 99 Cent Chef?
The 99 Cent Chef is more than just a goofy guy who loves cheap food and breakdances badly. He’s also a talented cook who manages to reinvent inexpensive ingredients in dishes you might actually eat (although I won’t go anywhere near those Vienna sausages—gross). In these times especially, it pays to think outside the Whole Foods. My grandfather, a frugal son of the Great Depression, might have found a soulmate in the 99 Cent Chef. Grandpa passionately loves a great deal. He’s been known to stockpile boxes of breakfast cereal, canned goods, and anything else on sale, special, or clearance. I’m also fairly certain he’s signed up for every free giveaway out there, so if anyone needs a digital alarm clock, pocket calculator, or commemorative Elvis plate, let me know.
Anyway, here’s hoping you enjoy the antics and recipes of the 99 Cent Chef. Be sure to check out his blog! And keep wishing you had such a well-stocked 99 Cent store in your area.
Also: check out this guy. He’s doing an experiment where he boycotts the grocery store and eats all the staples in his pantry and stuff lurking in the freezer. I’ve done the same, in an attempt to save money—and it works!
